Dr. Robinson Poffo

Graduated in Medicine from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná in 1992, did his residency in Cardiovascular Surgery at the Santa Casa de Misericórdia Hospital in Curitiba between 1993 and 1996, and concluded his Master’s Degree studies in Clinical Surgery at the Universidade Federal do Paraná in 2000. He also attended a specialization course in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, USA, in 1997.

Currently Dr Poffo works as a cardiovascular surgeon and coordinator of the Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Program at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil, as well as coordinator of the Division of Cardiovascular Surgery of the Hans Dieter Schmidt Hospital and of the UNIMED Hospital Center in Joinville, in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil.

He has great expertise in cardiovascular surgery and heart transplants both in adults and pediatric patients.

Dr Poffo introduced a new method for video-assisted minimally invasive cardiac surgery that has become renowned all over Brazil.

He brought this technique from Leipzig, Germany, from a referral center for the development of new cardiac surgical technologies.
